For The Fisherman
The Fish...
You'll have a great time casting your line on Lake Belle Taine, even Jr. may reel in a walleye, northern, large or small mouth bass, perch, bluegill, sunfish, crappie, rock bass bullhead or the unique silver pike. The best fishing is early June and September, but the fish are always there so "go fishing".
The Lake...
Lake Belle Taine is 1453 acres in size, six miles long with 25 miles of shoreline, is irregularly shaped, has many islands, is the southernmost and third largest of the 17 lakes in the Mantrap Chain, is navigable to Upper Bottle Lake. Lily pad beds and weedy shallows in the many coves and bays, deep drop-offs in the larger part of the lake, long sandbars and underlying shelves off the islands offer excellent fish habitat. Pine Beach is located along protected bays whose sand shore gradually slopes into deeper water channels leading to the upper big lake, Muskie Bay, and the lower lake. Public access to several of the 11 Crow Wing lakes is within a few miles. For DNR information on Belle Taine or any other lake in Minnesota check out the Minnesota DNR Lake Finder. Simply type in the name of the lake or county (ours is Hubbard) to find lakes in the area.
